Color Gate guide
How colour matching works, what prism rings and walls do, and how to read the road ahead as it speeds up.
How Color Gate works
Your ball rolls by itself down a three-lane road towards a series of gates. Each gate has one panel per lane. You can only pass through a panel that has the same colour as your ball; any other colour, or a dark wall, ends the run. Every gate you pass scores a point.
The game always guarantees one panel of your colour on every gate, and it is always reachable in time.
Controls
- Phone and tablet: tap the left half of the screen to move one lane left, the right half to move one lane right.
- Computer: ← → or A and D.
- Music: turn it on or off in the menu, or press M.
Prism rings and walls
- Prism rings are glowing arches across the whole road. Rolling through one changes your ball to the ring’s colour. They start appearing after the first few gates.
- Walls are dark panels marked with a red cross. They never let you through. They appear from around the seventh gate.
How the difficulty rises
- The road gets faster with every gate you pass, up to a top speed.
- Gates get closer together, so you have less time to change lanes.
- After 25 gates a fourth colour, green, joins cyan, pink and yellow.
Tips for passing more gates
- Look two items ahead. If a prism ring comes before the next gate, plan for the ring’s colour, not your current one.
- Move early. A lane change takes a moment, and at high speed that moment matters.
- Tap once per lane. Two quick taps move you two lanes.
- When nothing is coming, return to the middle lane: from there every lane is one move away.
